If you're setting-up your own food business, or planning to do so, this specialist two-day will show you how.

Join Yvonne O’Donovan - the School’s Head of Business and Enterprise -  in a series of workshops, practical exercises and lectures.

This course is ideal for those who have decided that setting up and running a food business is their future, and provides guidance and resources as you explore the key principles of establishing a business. 

Classes will focus on how to develop each section of a fast-track business plan and will explore how to expand your ideas further.

A sample business plan model will assist you in working through the multiple steps to start-up, mapping milestones and designing a route to a successful launch.

As well as providing an overview, we also deliver specialist expertise in specific areas such as finance, marketing, management and sustainability.

This course includes refreshments and lunch.

12 is the maximum number of students on this course. We like to keep our class sizes small and personal to ensure there is the opportunity for one-to-one time with the tutor. 


Who is this course for?  This two-day course is predominantly for those who are still exploring options and are unsure how to take their potential business idea forward. It’s also suitable for those who already have an outline plan as we test the assumptions and explore if they are viable.  


Do you expect participants to have progressed their chosen ideas before attending the course?  Previous participants have ranged from those who have just a glimmer of an idea with no work or research, to those who have already tested the market by selling their products. It makes little difference, as attendees will be tasked with reworking the assumptions and the numbers. 


What would you expect participants to gain from the course? The course is not an academic overview of entrepreneurship, instead it is an intensive experiential two-days with a focus on how to fast-track critical decisions in getting started with your own business. It is built on the experience and knowledge of the tutor who’s worked with hundreds of businesses over several decades. This course shapes the foundation stones to build a sustainable and viable model by addressing the key issues pre start-up.
