Winter Ales - Old Ales, Porters and Stouts

Why are some beers light and some dark? What makes a traditional British ale? This course reveals some secrets and you can even brew your own traditional strong ale.

Spend the day learning all there is to know about old ales, porters and stouts. The day will begin with an overview of the process of brewing from water to the final product and an introduction to the brew kit. Also covered during the day will be information on ingredients, including the different malts available, recipe formulation and brewing liquor.

During this course, you will brew a traditional strong Old Ale, 9.3% ABV, bitterness 50 EBU.
