Autumn Preserves

Jams, jellies and chutneys are easy and fun to make. Scour the hedgerows for ingredients, and find out how good your own efforts can taste.

Spend a day learning how to preserve autumn’s harvest as you discover the science and the magical transforming abilities of salt, sugar, vinegar and alcohol. Using seasonal ingredients such as apples, late tomatoes, onions, blackberries, quince, damsons and pears, discover how simple it is to transform them into delicious autumn jams, jellies and chutneys that can be tucked away in the larder to be enjoyed throughout the winter.

This course includes light refreshments and an informal lunch.

All ingredients, equipment and recipes are provided by the school.
