HRH Prince Charles visits The School of Artisan Food
The Prince of Wales accompanied by The Duchess of Cornwall visited the School of Artisan Food today (25 January 2011) and unveiled a plaque to commemorate their visit.
During the visit to the Welbeck Estate in Nottinghamshire, Their Royal Highnesses toured the School of Artisan Food’s butchery and baking training rooms, observing practical classes and meeting with the school’s full-time students.
Their Royal Highnesses also met with the School of Artisan Food’s tutors, trustees and sponsors and were presented with a hamper of food produced by students at the School.
Gareth Kennedy, Director of the School of Artisan Food, said: “It has been a great honour to welcome His Royal Highness The Prince of Wales and Her Royal Highness The Duchess of Cornwall to The School of Artisan Food.”
“The School of Artisan Food is a unique education provider offering short courses and professional qualifications. We specialise in of baking, butchery, cheesemaking as well as pickling and preserving. It has been an enormous pleasure to provide Their Royal Highnesses with a tour of the School and to share with them our commitment to training the next generation of handmade food producers.”
During their visit to the Welbeck Estate, The Prince of Wales and The Duchess of Cornwall also visited the recently completed Carriage Court development, where £2.1m has been spent to provide high-quality office accommodation for creative and digital media businesses.
