The School of Artisan Food is dedicated to inspiring and helping people from all walks of life to learn about healthy, sustainable and delicious food. We offer a wide range of hands-on courses taught by world-class tutors, in a unique environment within the grounds of the beautiful Welbeck Estate in Nottinghamshire.

Our short courses range from half a day to four weeks, and cover a wide range of subjects including artisan bread baking, patisserie, viennoiserie, cheesemaking, butchery, charcuterie, pie making, preserves and pickling, foraging, fermenting, ice-cream making, business start-up, micro-bakery, and sessions on therapeutic baking.

Advanced Diploma in Artisan Baking

The School of Artisan Food offers the UK’s first Advanced Diploma in Artisan Baking, accredited by FDQ. This six-month, full-time intensive course is the equivalent of a foundation degree qualification.

Foundation Degree (FdSc) in Artisan Food Production

 This two-year mostly practical course is delivered by professional artisan food specialists at the School of Artisan Food, based on the Welbeck Estate, alongside food technology specialists at the Nottingham Trent University (NTU) campus at Brackenhurst.

BSc (Hons) Artisan Food Production

Starting September 2024, our new three-year course, run in partnership with Nottingham Trent University will develop your practical skills, and teach you how to establish sustainable & ethical food practices to improve current food production processes. 

Short Courses

Our short course programme is designed to give people the opportunity to get back in touch with real, handmade food, and it suits all ages and skill levels. The school offers a wide range of short courses, ranging from demonstrations and half-day taster-sessions to intensive week-long masterclasses, professional courses and a 4-week summer school.
