Join our artisan butcher for this practical one-day course in the art of perfect pastry and proper handcrafted pies to add to your culinary Christmas traditions.
By the end of the day you’ll have all the practical skills, knowledge and confidence to create your own homemade pastry and tasty savoury fillings, including:
- suet pastry
- shortcrust pastry
- rough-puff pastry
- hot water crust pastry
- pork pie
- chicken and mushroom pie
- steak and kidney pie
- steak and ale pie
- layered Christmas pie.
No prior piemaking experience is necessary; just enthusiasm and a willingness to work alongside other food lovers.
You’ll be able to take home a selection of your pies. The School of Artisan Food makes a conscious effort to reduce waste and packaging, so we encourage you to bring your own containers.
Refreshments will be available throughout the day, as well as a buffet-style lunch prepared by our team of artisan chefs. All ingredients, equipment and recipes will be provided.
