Joan works as a freelance photographer, food writer and nutrition consultant working with a number of large and small food companies and businesses. She is a regular feature writer for the Yorkshire Post where her photographs of farms, orchards, allotments, vineyards, rhubarb sheds, people and recipe shots appear alongside her writing.
She has just completed photographing her first book with Pavilion Books. In 2014 and 2015 she was awarded a 3rd place and 2nd place in the prestigious Pink Lady Food Photographer of the Year.
Joan will share her experience of learning how to become a photographer from taking her first shot with a digital SLR to creating a beautiful photograph of food which is good enough to sell.
