Take a culinary journey back through time with this unique one-day course which combines hands-on British pie-making with fascinating food history.
Led by celebrated food historian, broadcaster and writer Ivan Day, the course will give you an opportunity to discover and put into practice long-forgotten cookery techniques and learn more about the history of this great British food.
Ivan will share knowledge acquired during decades of research and bring along treasures from his vast collection of antiquarian cookery books and culinary utensils. Also renowned for his skills as a professional cook and confectioner, Ivan will help you to create a selection of your own pies using recipes dating back hundreds of years. These could include Lumber Pie, Venison Pasty and the spectacular raised Victorian ornamented pies.
Refreshments will be available throughout the day, as well as a buffet style lunch prepared by our team of chefs. All ingredients, equipment and recipes will be provided.
