Apply for the Advanced Diploma in Artisan Baking – Refugee Scholarship

The next intake of students for the Advanced Diploma in Artisan Baking course is in September 2024 and applications are now open.

The Advanced Diploma in Artisan Baking is a 6-month residential course at the School of Artisan Food in Welbeck (Nottinghamshire) and is equivalent to a foundation degree. The scholarship is open to refugees, asylum seekers and migrants- please check the eligibility criteria below.

About the Refugee Scholarship:

In 2017 The School of Artisan Food obtained funding to provide one refugee student per year with a fully funded scholarship. Since then we have had 7 graduates from Algeria, Iraq, Iran, Kosovo, Eritrea, Ecuador and Sudan. The Advanced Diploma is aimed at training students to a standard of professional artisan baking where they can start their own business or start work in the industry.

Eligibility Criteria:

The School of Artisan Food understands the wider definition of Refugee and invites those who are escaping war, conflict and persecution. Those statuses included are:

 

Refugee Status

Asylum Seeker 

Ukrainian Guests

Family Reunion

 UASC leave or section 67 leave, or Calais leave

 UKBNO

Humanitarian Protection

Other vulnerable migrants

British Nationals with refugee heritage

Resettlement Schemes
(ARAP, ACRS, UKRS, Community Sponsorship etc)

 

In addition to the above eligibility criteria:

  • It is required that prospective students have an IELTS score of 6.0 or above. Students will be working at foundation degree level and will be required to write several reports and a business plan as part of their studies.

  • A passion to become an artisan baker (Actual baking level at the start of the course can be at beginner level)

  • Expected to re-locate to Welbeck in Nottinghamshire for the 6 month duration of the course.

 

What is included in the course:

The scholarship covers full course fees, accommodation and a monthly living allowance.
